Michael Jackson....

How sad this is. I know he was a bit odd - but if you look at his life, as a whole - I feel really bad, to an extent, for him. I feel he was in an abused home AND that he was used all of his life. He could never trust anyone and I cant imagine living like that.. Truley a sad thing.... His poor children and I cant imagine what kind of life they are going to live now.. From what I understand he had nannies, BUT that he was the major care giver... There are no words...

He was the Elvis of my generation....

  1. Jackson's personal life might have been a shattered disgrace, but dang it the guy was probably the most musically talented guy ever. Talking about influencing an entire culture - an entire world - Obama can only wish he could do what the King of Pop did.

  2. I always wanted to see him in concert but never got to. Loved his music and felt sorry for the life he had been forced to live. How on earth could this poor "kid" grow up to be any kind of normal? I am glad that he is at peace now but am so sorry that his life ended like this. Such a terrible tragedy.

  4. I do feel for his children. But I know people whom have grown up in much worse circumstances, with out the wealth and fame, that over came their circumstances with grace and kindness, he made bad choices and blamed them on his past without taking responsibility... I cant look up to or feel bad for that... Sorry to disagree, sweetie....

  8. Heidi, I just posted my own posting, which Michael and his death were part of. Your welcome to visit my blog and read it for yourself if you want ;-}
I keep meaning to share a different recipe with you. No, this one does not contain rice. Sorry. But it is a recipe which I have made to take to probably at least 60 different families over the years - and EVERYBODY declares it good - even the "super picky eaters".
While I'm not positive which magazine I found it in, I did note that it was an "Amish Recipe".
Over the years, due to having it oh so-o many times (the "house rule" is, that If I make something to take to somebody else, I must make one to keep here too) Brian and I are no longer get very excited over it. But "the boys" still request it on a regular basis!!

Bake at 350 for 1/2 hour.
Works GREAT to make ahead of time, frig., then bake at 350 for at least an hour.
EXCELLENT served with corn, cottage cheese, and applesauce. Why? Don't know, but it is!!! ;-p
    Enjoy!!!

  9. I'm not particularly sad to see him go. He was talented and was able to musically influence a generation across all races and income levels. An icon of American pop. However, I haven't listened to his music in years. Maybe it's because he got so whacked out in the last decade or so. Endless surgeries, dangling the baby out the window, suspicions of sexual abuse, owning his own personal fantasy land complete with zoo and the bones of the Elephant Man. Maybe it was all for show. Maybe he was high. I don't know.

  10. I guess I always felt that maybe he would come around to the great man I think that he could have been.... but I agree about some of it - the alleged abuse especially. What saddens me though, is that no matter what he did if someone was lying about the abuse.... he never stood a chance of regaining his identity.. the media toasted him without mercy - like they do so many others....

  11. Lets Leave him alone and pray for his family after all who are we to judge we are not God

  12. Saddens me because the guy had God given gifts that he used for his own glory and not for the glory of the Lord. I know that he did give alot to charity and that is note worthy. But he also wasted so much more than just the monetary, and that is tragic.

On a lighter note or heavier if you choose to indulge, I posted a recipe that any buttermilk lovin' milk mama would enjoy!

  13. I have to wonder if he would've given it all up to just have a normal life.

  14. I am sad also. He was a big influence on me and my style of music. Even if you didn't like him or his music, you can't deny, the guy T.A.L.E.N.T.
