First, for those of you still reading my blog - I guess I owe an apology. The last 3 weeks I have been busy, which I am sure you all have. However, trying to jugle sick children, sick and aging inlaws, -20 below weather, cooking, cleaning, my part time job, and over 250 head of cattle and a husband who was nearly crushed by a #1000 pound round bale - I owe an apology.
Miss Lila - I thank you for the time and effort you have spent to come here and check out my blog. I TRUELY LOVE to read all the comments and appreciate your time to be here, but I cant satisfy everyone when REAL LIFE starts to go south. I take the time I have for my blog, but as I said life has been pretty tough the last couple of weeks. If you all feel this way, maybe I should not continue. As I said before I am sorry for not being here, but things have gotten a bit out of control in my life - limiting the time for my blog.... Let me know how you all feel about this please - if you still are reading.
Still reading, still here. Don't give up because of one chicks comments. If she doesn't have blog of her own who is she to say what we should do. Writing a blog takes time and talent. Obviously she has way too much of one and not enough of the other!!!! Keep it going!!!
ReplyDeleteHeidi - no need to apologize. Take heart, and blog without obligation. Kiss the family, hang in there, and tend to your priorities. If you post, readers will come :)
ReplyDeleteYou must set your priorities, seems yours are right. I will continue to enjoy the blog whenever you post. There are many sites that will track new posts. Bloglines for an example. We support sustainable farming.
ReplyDeletei remember i scared lady who had no idea even how to begin a blog a few yrs ago and a guy who helped her get started . The guy had alot of readers and she had none , now the lady has proven herself to be an exceptional writer and has more readers than the guy ever had , DO NOT give up . Real life comes first ALWAYS . Farmboss /MolkMan was injured , kids are sick and you have a farm to run , sheesh , thats more than most of us could handle period . You hang in there and when you have 30 seconds at least leave a line to let is know Milkmans ok ! Huggggggggs
ReplyDeleteHeidi,
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad and don't quit blogging! You are not obligated to blog and I'm the first one to understand getting in a rut and not having the time, energy or simply not feeling like it. Writers are artists and in my opinion that gives you the right to be eccentric!
I don't actually visit your blog every day but I do SUBSCRIBE to it via Bloglines; what do you know, as soon as you upload a post it alerts me!!!
Now I better go update my much-neglected blog before I get nasty comments as well! Sometimes life just gets in the way, darn it!
Take care Heidi - you have a beautiful family and they need you! Family first!
Of course, I would never give up on you!!! Life does get in the way...that is never a problem with me.
ReplyDeleteThis is YOUR blog...do things as you see fit. I track as well, so I know when you have posted...if I have to wait 6 months to hear from you...that's fine too.
I love ya...
Marlene
Don't you dare stop writing! If someone is so selfcentered to think you have to write everyday to keep them entertained you are better off without them. Farm life is long hours and hard work. Add a family, illness, broken equipment to it and we are lucky if we can even have a blog. Our blogs are our journals for family and friends. If others find them and start reading thats wonderful but we don't write to entertain them. If they expect us to write every day for them then they are very very self centered and need a life of their own! Stepping off my soap box now. Will add why don't you change your comments to moderation so none will get posted without your approval and you can just delete rude people. I don't give them the chance to post their stupid self centered comments. A click and they are gone and then they are blocked from making any other comments in the future.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm - I must have misplaced the 'commitment letter' from you stating your posting schedule???
ReplyDeleteI guess I'll just have to be happy with what you do post and realize that as a Mom to 5 boys with a working farm... you have your hands full.
Personally I use 'Google Reader' and they tell me when you and other blogs have a new post up... I'd hate to think I had to go and check the blogs I follow several times a day to see if they contained new information... My goodness I have a life too ya know! LOL
Heidi - unless you had some sort of contract with that reader... you've got bigger fish to fry, kids and cows to wrangle, a family to keep fed and in clean clothes... she's definitely small taters on your plate. Just scrap it into the slop bucket for the pigs...
A farm is a lot of work. Add to that taking care of a large family (and yourself) staying warm in a cold winter, etc., just take care and do what has to be done. We all love you and when you are ready, we are ready. Blessings to the family.
ReplyDeleteYou don't owe anyone an apology. Your blog is your own, and when you are ready to write again, we'll be here to read it.
ReplyDeleteHi Heidi, wanted to let you know I received the package and thank you so much. Do you make soap and lotion? I really want to learn to do that. Your soaps and lotion are so aromatic, again, I really appreciate them.
ReplyDeleteI pop in every once in a while to see how things are going. I am not usually a commenter, but a lurker. Sometimes life throws you a curve ball and you need to take care of it. My hubby is in the elevator trade, he was hit in the head with a 5,000 pound counterweight, of which he survived, thankfully. It can be a dangerous place out there. I also have kids who get sick, a job to do and a house to take care of. I blog when I can.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about it ... win some, lose some.
Heidi, I was going to give you a pep talk here, but I see that everyone else already has.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I will take a moment to write to Miss ATL there. M'am, until you have walked that mile in Heidi's shoes, and know what it is to live the life she leads, and deal with what she deals with, I suggest you hush your mouth. Shame on you.
So M'am, you just pack your bags from HotLanta there, and truck your tush to Heidi's farm. You raise five boys. You help care for sick in laws, you care for those five kids when they get sick, and a husband who got hurt. YOU cook, clean, do the laundry, and take care of everything there is to care for, and THEN come and tell us all if YOU feel like posting. I am sure Heidi would love a break!
Hiedi,
ReplyDeletePersonally, I don't feel that you owe anyone an apology. My own perspective on blogs is that they are fun & interesting hobbies. I do not post everyday nor do I expect everyone else to. It's great when others do (cause then I have more to read....when I have time!) Life is more important than blogging. Your children, husband, and in-laws depend on you much more than we bloggy friends do. If they didn't, something would be seriously wrong. Keep blogging....and at your OWN pace. If you start blogging just to please others, it will become a chore and who needs another one of those?!?
BTW, I love reading about your life on the farm! I'm feeding my dreams of having my own one day ;-)
Girl !! Don't apologize ever ! Life is tough - we do what we can...
ReplyDeleteHoney, your kids, husband, parents, etc. farm and yourself should always, always be taken care of first -
No apologies needed - we enjoy reading your post and won't ever stop.
Good Grief!! Even if you weren't so busy...imagine how inane your blog would quickly become if you posted everyday for the sake of saying something...anything? Don't change a thing-a wait between posts teaches me to delay gratification (life is not all ME ME ME NOW NOW NOW)and gives me a little thrill when I find a new post! I also suspect that with as full as your plate is you may be blogging more then your sleep-needs allow? I have something you need too-just found it myself! it's a button...it'll only take a minute and it's the exact answer for such people!
ReplyDeleteI do this little thing...it is called SUBSCRIBE to your feed. That way, I know when you have had time to post. I rarely comment because of the number of blogs that I read, but decided I would today simply to say...if you are blogging to please everyone, you are doing it for the wrong reason. You will always have someone who has their panties in a wad and just can't figure out how to get them undone unless they are harassing someone else.

I imagine Ms Lila has checked your blog a couple of times today to see what people are saying about her comment. Please don't stop blogging, I check and if you have posted and if not I just check later or the next time I am on the computer. I love reading about your life and admire you greatly for all you get done. Please, please keep going for the rest of us that appreciate you.
ReplyDeleteAPOLOGIZE?!?!?!!! No way girlfriend!! Life gets in the way for all of us out here at times. We don't read about you and yours because you post every day...we come here because you are a sweetie and well worth waiting for. You go on and take care of your kiddos and hubby and farm when need be. We will all still be here. :)

HEIDI~ You must KEEP ON KEEPING ON!
ReplyDeleteI so believe in our Rural Lifestyle that feeds the Nation!
You very eloquently explain all the needed essential jobs on a
Dairy/Beef Farm. Most people and almost all citified children have NO CLUE what it takes to maintain a Lifestyle so foreign to them!
Thank you for your EDUCATION and
Dedication to your multi-tasking
lifestyle!
I love your blog and I truly appreciate all your and your family's hard work!

i just went back and read Ms Lilahuggins remarks , and i would like to make a comment !
ReplyDeleteLila , if your checking a blog 3-4 times a day , YOU NEED TO GET A LIFE !! sheesh .
And had u CARED to check , you would have known MilkMan got injured , and she has been quite busy taking care of him as well as farm !
So Ultimately , you are a selfish person and quite frankly , until YOU put in some effort to writing a blog , you need to sit down , shut up !!
gets off soapbox
mess with my lil sassy sis will ya
Good heavens, Heidi, you do NOT need to apologize when real life happens! I know everyone has already told you that, but I want to get my two cents worth in too. I was a farm mom when I was a young(er) woman, and totally understand STUFF HAPPENS. Don't you ever let anyone put you off writing your delightful blog! It's honest and REAL, and from the responses here, I'd say there are quite a few of us who love it ... and you ... just the way it is!!!
ReplyDeleteOf course we are still reading you, you ninny! Now go take care of those babies and those sick people and those animals and we'll talk to you when you have time. Hope everyone is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteHeidi - you owe no apologies to anyone. I love to read your blog, but I realize that taking care of your family is your priority. My prayers are with you and your family!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I use Goggle Reader for blogs, that way I receive a notice when a blog I enjoy posts. Sitting down with a cup of coffee (decaf) in the evening and reading a few updates is the way I unwind before bedtime.
Thanks for what you share with us. No apologies necessary!
I'm still here, Heidi! No need for an apology, I think we all understand that life on a farm is busy, hectic place at times. Taking care of your family comes first. I'll still visit every day. :-)
ReplyDeleteDon't let someone like that get to you! Your family comes FIRST! We all need time to take care of our priorities. You'd better keep posting and blogging, or I will be one dumb southerner! ha-ha I have really learned a lot from reading your informative posts!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is so sincere and honest. You have many, many followers! I will check in each time I make my rounds, which hasn't been too often lately. But I work and have been laid up, too, for awhile.
You are loved by us all, and we look forward to your posts whenever you have time to do one! I don't know how you do all that you do, and with 5 children, too! You are an extraordinary young woman!!!! And we all love you to pieces!!!! So hang in there, ya hear? LOL
Love you!
Nancy
P.S. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I just loved Howdy's last paragraph in his comment!!! Way to go, Howdy!!!!!
